Previous rumors claimed that the Korean tech giant’s next foldable device would be named as the Galaxy Bloom. However, new updates suggested that it’s just a temporary codename as it will be dubbed as the Galaxy Z Flip. Moreover, it is expected to have a new flip design like the Moto Razr, moving on from the Galaxy Fold’s butterfly-like folding style.

Samsung is yet to announce the phone, but the information has been leaked by Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) – a popular and reliable tipster with a good track record.

Meanwhile, LetsGoDigital Online Magazine supported this info, and revealed that the device will have a model number SM-F700F. As the name suggests, the Galaxy Z Flip will be a flip phone that sports a flexible screen.

Huawei Y9s Hands-on and Initial Impressions

INTRODUCTION:

Huawei recently launched the Y9s in the Philippines. As one of the brand’s affordable smartphones, its impressive that the device still has competitive specs and trendy features, just like its pop-up camera and stunning design.

Huawei Y9s Hands-on and Initial Impressions
Huawei Y9s Hands-on and Initial Impressions

Now tapped as our main driver, we’re giving you some of our impressions about the Y9s. Let’s start!

PHYSICAL:

Huawei never failed to offer a premium-looking smartphone. Just like its brothers, the Y9s has a sophisticated body – thanks to its 3D glass curved back. It is also available in two striking color variants, such as Midnight Black and Breathing Crystal. Meanwhile, our team received the latter, which is a total-head turner as it flaunts a flagship-like colorway.

Breathing Crystal
Breathing Crystal

Similar to other devices available in the market today, the Y9s sports an all-screen display as it is equipped with a pop-up camera. As a result, it offers an immersive 6.59-inch FullView IPS display, which is ideal for watching videos and playing games.

Right Side
Right Side

However, it settles for a side-mounted fingerprint sensor instead of giving us a trendy in-display fingerprint scanner. Speaking of, its volume keys and power/lock button are placed on its right side. The latter also works as a fingerprint sensor. Its left part, on the other hand, is unoccupied.

Pop-up Camera
Pop-up Camera

Moving on, you’d see its 16MP pop-up camera and SIM card tray on the top, while its 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, and speaker are located at the bottom.

Bottom
Bottom

Flip the device on its back to reveal its protruding triple rear cameras. Since it has a glass body, the device can easily attract fingerprints and smudges. It is slippery, too, that’s why it’s better if you would use its protective case.

CAMERA:

The Huawei Y9s is banking on a 48-megapixel main shooter, coupled with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, it boasts a 16-megapixel snapper.

Here are some of our sample photos:

For now, we can say that the Y9s has good camera performance. It has enough details, however, we noticed that it lacks some sharpness sometimes.

INITIAL VERDICT:

The Huawei Y9s is a good smartphone at its price point. As of now, we can’t say if it can really battle out its rivals as we felt like we’re still looking for its best offering. However, we can already assure you that it can satisfy your mobile needs.

In case you missed it, Huawei loaded the Y9s with a Kirin 710F octa-core processor, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, and 4,000mAh battery. With these specs, we expect that the device can accompany us  throughout our test when we start using it intensively.

Consumers can score the Y9s for the price of Php13,990.

We’ll update you as soon as we finish our full review. So, stay tuned!

Globe GoEXTRA90 with 10GB of Data, Unli Calls and Unli Texts Valid for 7 Day for Only 90 Pesos

The Globe GoEXTRA90 comes with 2GB of open access data that can be used for browsing the web, sending and receiving emails, and anything on the internet. It also has an additional 7GB (that is 1GB per day multiplied by seven days) of data for GoSHARE&SHOP and GoWATCH&PLAY. And lastly, 1GB of GoWiFi access that has the same validity as the GoEXTRA 90, which is 7 days.

So in total, that's 10 gigabytes of data for only Php90! But, that is not all, it also comes with unlimited calls to Globe and TM subscribers, unlimited texts to all networks, and free GCash QR voucher.

The free voucher gives users discounts when they shop or dine in their favorite shops using GCash. To claim it, simply visit https://gcsh.app/p and follow the instructions on that page. Just remember that you need to claim it within the same validity period as the Go EXTRA 90, else it will expire and cannot be used anymore. For more info about this, Text GOSHOP INFO to 8080.

Meanwhile, for the GoSHARE and GoSHOP, it can be used for social media sites Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, as well as on online stores like Shopee, and Zalora.

To be honest, this is quite a great offer, and better than the GoSAKTO90 that costs the same, which does not come with free calls. However, there is a catch with the GoEXTRA 90 promo, it is currently available only through GCash - via the GCash App or via the GCash option in *143# or via FB Messenger.

To subscribe to Go EXTRA 90 using the GCash App, open the application on your Android or iOS smartphone, select the Buy Load option, then look fo the GoEXTRA90 in the ONLY ON GASH! or the SURF tab. If you do not have GCash yet, visit https://gcsh.app/r/AfCMh9B to open an account and enjoy Php70 worth of freebies.

To purchase via *143# on your phone, follow the simple steps below:
  • Dial *143# on your Globe smartphone

  • Type the number 6 for "Buy Load"
  • Type the number 1 for "Globe"

Realme has officially launched the latest addition to its growing Realme 5 smartphone series – the Realme 5i in the Philippines with unbelievably low asking price!

Realme 5i with Quad Camera and 5000mAh Battery Launches in PH for Php6,990

As the name suggests, the Realme 5i works as the toned-down variant of its brother Realme 5. With this, the young mobile brand competitively packed the device with just slightly tweaked offerings.

Similar to its brother, Realme also dressed the Realme 5i with a premium-looking design, which is available in Blue and Green colorways. However, it now comes with a new Van Sunlight 3D glass-like back.

On paper, nothing much has changed between the Realme 5 and Realme 5i. The latter still has a 6.5-inch dewdrop screen with HD+ 1600 x 720 resolution, making it a good device for watching videos and playing games.

Under the hood, the phone is also powered by the same Snapdragon 665 octa-core processor, paired with Adreno 610 GPU. Meanwhile, it can be loaded with up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage for smoother smartphone experience. To accommodate user's daily mobile tasks, the Realme 5i is armed with a large 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W fast charging.

Moving on to its photography department, it still boasts a quad-rear camera setup, consisting of a 12-megapixel f/1.8 main shooter, 8-megapixel f/2.25 119-degree ultra-wide lens, 2-megapixel f/2.4 macro lens, and 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth sensor. Realme also equipped it with video-centric features, such as anti-shake technology, support for slow-mo videos up to 120fps, and 4K support up to 30fps.

However, the device settled for only 8-megapixel selfie snapper instead of a 13-megapixel front camera.

Just like the Realme 5, it also runs on Android 9.0 Pie OS with ColorOS 6.0 skin on top.

It will be available starting January 30, 2020, at exactly 12MN via Shopee for a very low asking price of Php6,990. But, you can get it for 800 pesos less when you use the code REALME12OFF, bringing down the price for only Php6,190!

            INTRODUCTION:

Realme recently added a new family member to its growing Realme 5 series – the Realme 5i. To kick off the new decade, the young mobile brand has brought the device to the Philippines, allowing local fans to score an impressive smartphone that won’t break the bank.

Realme 5i Hands-on and Initial Impressions
Realme 5i Hands-on and Initial Impressions

Our team is currently playing around with the Realme 5i. As a toned-down variant of the Realme 5, it’s safe to assume that it is also bound to impress us. But can it really deliver? Let’s see for now!

            PHYSICAL:

As expected, Realme has come up with a tricky design to have a premium-looking smartphone, though it still has a polycarbonate body just like the Realme 5. However, it now flaunts a Van Sunlight 3D textured finish, which features a sunrays-like design that changes when light strikes.

            Display
            Display

The Realme 5i flashes an immersive 6.5-inch 2.5D screen with a tiny notch, resulting in an HD+ 1600 x 720 resolution and 89% screen-to-body ratio. The phone has slightly thick bezels and bottom, too, which is still acceptable as it can elevate your viewing experience even now.

            Bottom
            Bottom

Its right side houses its power/lock button, while its left cheek accommodates its volume keys and SIM card tray. Its top portion is unoccupied, while its 3.5mm audio jack, speaker grill, and MicroUSB 2.0 port are placed on the bottom part of the device.

            Back
            Back

Flip the device on its back to reveal its protruding quad-rear camera, flash, fingerprint scanner, and its branding. Weighing 198 grams, it is impressive that one-hand usage is possible – thanks to its panel that is not slippery. It doesn’t attract fingerprints and smudges, too.

            CAMERA:

On paper, many would notice that it almost shares the same specs as the Realme 5. However, its selfie snapper has been lowered to an 8-megapixel sensor from a 13-megapixel camera. Good thing, it is packed with a better video stabilization than its brother.

The Realme 5i sports a 12-megapixel f/1.8 main shooter, 8-megapixel f/2.25 199-degree ultra-wide-angle, 2-megapixel f/2.4 4cm macro lens, and 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth sensor. For selfies, as mentioned before, the brand mounted it with an 8-megapixel f/2.0 front camera.

Here are some of our sample photos:

The Realme 5i can deliver good photos. Images are vibrant and have accurate colors, too. However, we noticed that we had a hard time focusing on the subject when we’re doing a macro shot. For selfies, it can offer natural-looking images, while enhancing your photos.

            INITIAL VERDICT:

            Realme 5i

For now, we can say that the Realme 5i is a good contender for its segment. The device is still tapped as our main driver, and fortunately, we’re happy about the things it can give us. As a quick recap, Realme loaded it with a Snapdragon 665 octa-core processor, Adreno 610 GPU, 3GB RAM, 64GB storage, and 5,000mAh battery.

We will update you with our full review soon, so stay tuned!

Globe Telecom recently updated its GoSURF and GoSAKTO promos for their prepaid subscribers. One of the major changes is the FREE DATA for GoSHARE&SHOP, GoWATCH&PLAY or GoLIVE&DISCOVER. And, this could be a make or break for those who usually subscribe to Globe GoSURF50.

Globe GoSURF50 with 5GB of Data and Unli All Net Texts for 3 Days; Still for Only 50 Pesos

Let's discuss first the good news, the Globe GoSURF50 still has 1GB of open access data valid for 3 days, and still comes with 1GB of data for GoWiFi access, which are the same inclusions as before. It also still comes with 1GB of data daily, but instead for Facebook and Instagram, it now also includes Twitter, Shopee, and Zalora, which is if you avail the GoSHARE and GoSHOP option.

For us, this is better, since there are added apps instead of just FB and IG. Moreover, consumers can also opt to choose GoWATCH and GoPLAY, wherein the free data can be used for YouTube, Netflix, iWant, Viu, iflix, NBA, HOOQ, ONE, Mobile Legends, Arena of Valor, Rules of Survival, Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Free Fire, and PUBG Mobile. Or, GoLIVE and GoDISCOVER wherein the free data daily can be used for Grab, Google Maps, Waze, Wikipedia, and Tik Tok.

Now, for the sad part. The GoSURF50 does not come anymore with 1GB data for an app of your choice. The said 1GB data before can be used for Facebook, Instagram, Spotify, Twitter, Viber, SnapChat, TikTok, YouTube & Daily Motion, Mobile Legends, PUBG, AOV & other games, when you claim it via 8080. Again, the keywords below for Go SURF50 are no longer applicable.

This simply means that Globe prepaid subscribers have less data now for Go SURF50, less 1GB of data to be exact. Meaning, if you subscribe to this Go SURF 50 Globe Prepaid Promo, you will have a total of 5GB of data that you can consume within the validity period. That is 1GB of regular data + 1GB of GoWiFi Access + 3GB (1GB per day for 3 days) of free data for GoSHARE&SHOP, GoWATCH&PLAY or GoLIVE&DISCOVER depending on your choice. Again, that's 5GB now, instead of 6GB of data before.

            Old Globe GoSURF50 Promo

Previously, the Go SURF 50 also comes with FREE unlimited texts to all networks, which is quite great if your friends and family are on the Smart, TNT, or Sun. But, this time around, the Globe SoSURF page, https://www.globe.com.ph/prepaid/gosurf.html, does not show that. However, we tried sending SMS to Smart and SUN numbers, and both our texts were received on the other end. That said, we can conclude that 'unli all-net texts' is still part of the promo.

There are a whole lot more to your streams and gameplays when you have bigger data. To be specific, here are the things that you can enjoy with your additional free 1GB of data daily:
            • GoWATCH and GoPLAY free data can be used for YouTube, Netflix, iWant, Viu, iflix, NBA, HOOQ, ONE, Mobile Legends, Arena of Valor, Rules of Survival, Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Free Fire, and PUBG Mobile.
            • GoSHARE and GoSHOP can be used for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Shopee, and Zalora.
            • GoLIVE and GoDISCOVER data can be used for Grab, Google Maps, Waze, Wikipedia, and Tik Tok.

The data that will be consumed to access the above-mentioned apps, games, and sites will be deducted to the free 1GB data, while browsing the web and performing other things will count towards the regular MBs of your GoSURF 50 subscriptions.
