Angkas got their initial victory, as the company successfully secured a 72-hour Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the new policy issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and Department of Transportation (DOTr).
In case you missed it, LTFRB recently announced its new policy, which will limit the number of Angkas bikers to only 10,000 in Manila and 3,000 in Cebu. With this, Angkas rallied against the government’s new provision, as it will put 17,000 riders at risk of losing their jobs.
Now, the Mandaluyong City Regional Trial Court has granted a 72-hour TRO against the new provision. The order was signed by Vice/Acting Executive Judge Ofelia L. Calo in response to the class suit filed by Angkas riders.
The order also stated that its TRO is issued upon posting of a bond in the amount of Php300,000.
Meanwhile, Angkas bikers rejoiced its initial victory, claiming that the justice is on their side.

“This proves that justice is on our side. We are only trying to make an honest living and helping commuters every day to get to their destinations fast and safe,” Rommel Villanueva, one of the bikers who filed the Petition, said. “Why should the government stop us? Why should our families go hungry? We are not doing anything wrong,” he added.
