Nintendo Set to Release New 2DS XL Portable System in July

Nintendo has announced its latest portable system called the New Nintendo 2DS XL, and it is set to be officially released in Japan on July 13 and in the US on July 28.

The New Nintendo 2DS XL is the newest portable hardware addition to the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, giving customers a third choice when choosing hand-held systems. It's basically a New 3DS XL, with the same power and large screen size, sans the 3D effect. The visuals will be displayed in 2D only and it is lighter with built-in NFC support for amiibo cards and figures.

A massive library of quality Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo DS games in 2D can be played on this new device. According to Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's President and COO, this new portable system "offers a great balance between price and performance."

The New Nintendo 2DS XL will be available in a stylish black/turquoise color at an SRP of USD149.00. It will be simultaneously launched on the same day as Hey! PIKMIN and Miitopia, which are two big new games created for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.
