Counterpoint has revealed its latest research for the Philippine smartphone market, showing that Huawei and Vivo lifted the industry to redeem its growth in Q2 2018. The research firm has announced the top five mobile manufacturers in the country, too!
According to Counterpoint, Huawei and Vivo recorded a YoY 404% and 106% growth, respectively. Through this, Vivo is now the third biggest smartphone brand in the local market, while Huawei finally penetrated the list.
However, Samsung still owns the crown with its 20% shipment share in the country, but it recorded a declined market growth. Nevertheless, Counterpoint Research attributed its success to the famed Galaxy J series, as it contributed over 68% of the brand’s total shipments in the country.

Meanwhile, Cherry Mobile comes next with its 17% market share driven by the popularity of its affordable phones such as the Flare J3 and S6.
On the other hand, Chinese mobile manufacturers dominated the list, as Vivo, OPPO, and Huawei claimed the 3rd, 4th, and 5th spots, correspondingly. Vivo banks on the success of the Y53 and Y71, while OPPO is backed by its F7 and A83 devices. Huawei also did well, as it was boosted by the Y6 and Nova Lite.
Counterpoint also revealed that local consumers still aspire Apple, ironically, its market share declined to just 2% in Q2 2018.
