Android 8.0 Oreo Now Official; Picture-in-Picture, Autofill and Notification Dots on Board

Google has officially introduced the new Android 8.0 Oreo mobile operating system, offering new features such as picture-in-picture, autofill, and notification dots.

According to Google, the latest OS release is "smarter, faster and more powerful than ever" with "stronger security protections and speed improvements."

With its picture-in-picture support, you'll be able to use two apps at once so you won't have to leave the application you're currently at when you decide to check something on another.

There's also the new notification dots that will allow you to tap to see what's new in your app and take action quickly. There's Autofill, as well, which makes logging in easier than ever. It also supports Android Instant Apps that lets you access new apps without installing them.

Moreover, the new Android 8.0 Oreo OS now comes with fully-redesigned emojis. It is now even more secure with Google Play Protect and even helps minimize unintentional overuse of battery.

Google's Android 8.0 Oreo will be available to Pixel and Nexus devices soon. Devices from Essential General Mobile, HMD Global, Huawei, HTC, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Sharp, and Sony are expected to receive the update, as well, by the end of this year.

Devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program are also expected to receive the final version of Android 8.0 Oreo.
