Facebook Soon Bringing Ads to Messenger's Home Screen Worldwide |
Previously only ran in Australia and Thailand, the home screen ads beta is now becoming a global advertising option, allowing users worldwide to see sponsored ads in between recent conversations on the Messenger home screen.

The ads you'll see will not be shown in conversations, but on the main inbox tab where your most recent chats are located. They will be catered to you just like on Instagram and Facebook itself. Existing Messenger ads are said to include sponsored messages as well as ads that appear on your Facebook News Feed.
Most of the ads are said to be able to redirect you to conversations with either a human or bot, but of course, it should be noted that sponsored messages can only be sent to users that a company already had a conversation with.
Expect to see the home screen of your Messenger with ads before this year ends. Facebook said that it will start rolling out the update in the coming weeks.
